Inspecting and Updating Pages

Once paginated DTP pages have been saved back to STEP, the pages can be both inspected and updated within the workbench from the Page Inspector and the AutoPage Publication Planner tabs. Both single and multi-version publications can be actioned from these locations.

Page Inspector

From the Page Inspector, actual pages can be viewed and edited from within the workbench. Mounted objects can be repositioned, remounted, and reflowed on a page; content can be updated; documents can be opened directly in InDesign; layouts can be locked; pages can be sent to the printer; and more.

For high-level information on the Page Inspector and its interface, refer to the Page Inspector topic here.

For information on how to view markers for product borders, measurements, oversets, layout source, and update needed, refer to Viewing Markers and Overset Text here.

For information on how to reposition objects on pages and manually set object justification, refer to Repositioning Objects in the Page Inspector here.

AutoPage Publication Planner

From the AutoPage Publication Planner, actual pages are not viewable, but multiple actions can be taken on pages within the publication, including:

  • Resequencing objects. Refer to Resequencing Linked Objects in AutoPage Publications here.
  • Check if an update is needed and update content. Refer to Updating Documents in AutoPage here.
  • Set page numbers. Refer to Controlling Page Numbers here.
  • Create a PDF. Refer to Generating PDFs in AutoPage here
  • Create an AutoPage Planner report. Information is available in the AutoPage Publication Planner topic here.
