Using Web UI

This documentation gives users more details in regards to how components work and how they can be configured.

Important: GUI setups described in this section are not meant to be used to replace user privileges. For example, if you have allowed all privileges to the primary product hierarchy, you cannot control updates to specific product structures with GUI setups. The user privileges must be used to control such actions.

For more information about privileges and user setup, refer to the Users and Groups section (here) and Adding User Privileges for a Group section (here) of the System Setup documentation. Also, refer to the Web UI Getting Started topic here.

General Information on Web UI Behavior

The ability to copy and paste a URL from the Web UI to recreate a mirror image of the original Web UI screen in another browser tab or window is supported, but there are limitations to this 'deep linking' that may affect a user's experience. The following items are not remembered when accessing a deep link:

  • Freezing and manual table flipping (horizontal / vertical).
  • Attribute groups, states, and value sections (expanded / collapsed).
  • Hide equal / Mark different (actions for Multi Context screen).
  • Select Languages, affecting the number / order of displayed lines in table (action on Multi Language Screen).
  • Applied user configurable views, if end user does not share the same configurable view as original user; instead, they will view the standard layout or their own previously applied user configurable view.
  • When multiple pages of Homepage widgets are sent in a URL, the URL will not remember the specific page of widgets, taking users to the first page by default.
  • Automotive search in Application Manager.
  • Manually resized column widths.
  • Values entered but not saved including open editor dialogs.
  • State of panels (e.g., expanded collapsed 'Recent background processes' side panel/ 'Recent warning notifications' side panel/ Global Navigation Panel).
  • Position of drag handles and scroll bars.

Additionally, consider these items:

  • Pages will not be scrolled to focus on read-only attributes on a Node Details screen.
  • Focus on attributes on a Node Details screen is not visible when fields are checkboxes or radio buttons.
  • Having two Node Lists inside the same tab, only one display mode state is saved.
  • When working in Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) or Edge web browsers, some copied URLs may exceed IE / Edge's maximum character count for URLs, which is 2,046 characters. When these long URLs are pasted in either of these browsers, the system will display an error and the user will not be navigated to the desired Web UI page.
