Product Data Exchange (PDX) Enhancements

2023.2 (11.2) Enhanced Features

Enhanced features for this release of PDX include Extension of Output Configurations for Configured Channels, PDX Onboarding for PMDM Customers, and a Channel Software Development Kit.

Extension of output configurations for configured channels

Our existing configured channel capability only allowed users to select one type of output format per channel. Even if there were multiple, separate receivers set up, the same output had to be sent to all the receivers. This limitation would require PDX users to create duplicate configured channels with the same information if they needed to send a different output format for each of the receivers.

With 11.2 (2023.2), users will be able to send different output formats to different receivers from within the same channel. We have introduced a new template library that can contain Excel templates and both XML and JSON velocity templates. The appropriate template then can be added to each receiver, allowing each receiver to have a different output format as needed. In addition, the output files can be renamed, making them more relevant to the receiver.

Finally, the ability to deliver files to S3 locations (Amazon's cloud server) will be added to the existing delivery methods of email, SFTP, and HTTP, giving our users that additional option.

The PDX Configured Channel license is required for the functionality described above.

PDX Onboarding for PMDM Customers

Previously, when a PMDM customer wanted to use PDX for onboarding, custom development by the PDX team was required, which decelerated the time-to-value for the customer and limited the PDX team's capacity for servicing customers.

Now, with 11.2 (2023.2), external partners and our Professional Services team will be able to configure PDX Onboarding channels for PMDM customers in a more expedient way. This ensures that PMDM customers will be able to start receiving supplier product content much sooner as well as maintain the channel themselves. Customers will also be empowered with increased business agility to manage their own onboarding requirements.

The PDX Onboarding and associated vendors licenses are required for the functionality above.

Channel software development kit

Previously, new channels in PDX could only be built by internal developers, with the demand for new channels outpacing the ability to build them.

Now, with 11.2 (2023.2) and the introduction of the channel software development kit (SDK), the creation of channels will be completed by external partners and Professional Services, dramatically speeding up the time-to-value for a given channel. The Channel API will allow third parties and customers to build channels using the technology of their choice.

The SDK will contain an introduction to the PDX channel concepts, outline the development process, and include maintenance and ownership obligations.

Ultimately, the channel SDK will provide a simplified channel implementation and maintenance process, empowering external parties with the ability to create new and relevant channels whenever they are needed and providing the option to our customers to build important channels using a third party.

The Channel API license is required for the functionality above (only for approved third parties).
