General tab page
The General tab page within the Settings screen allows users to do comprehensive configurations like editing the channel name, adding / changing the channel's logo, defining a primary asset attribute, defining settings on automatic submission of products, etc.
The appearance of the General tab while configuring a new channel depends on the name and logo configured while creating a channel. For more information on configuring the name and logo, see the Creating configured channels topic.
Below is a screenshot of how the General tab would display when the user names the channel 'Forest and Trees Bakery' and adds a logo.
The General tab page is composed of the following:
- Channel name: This field displays the name that was specified while creating the shell of the channel. You can rename the channel after creation.
- Channel logo: This field displays the logo that was uploaded while creating the shell of the channel. You can change the channel's logo by clicking on the pencil icon within the image box.
- Primary asset attribute: This field allows users to configure only the Asset type attribute. The selected attribute will function as the primary asset to the product. The dropdown will only be populated with a value after the asset type has been created.
- Import-based Automatic Submissions: This canvas contains the checkbox 'Enable Automatic submission,' which allows you to control and automate any changes to imported products. The product(s) must be manually submitted on the first submission. For more information on this setting, go to the Import-based automatic submissions topic.
- Scheduled Automatic Submissions: This canvas contains fields that allow users to schedule an auto-submission. For more information on creating automatic submissions, go to the Auto-submission of products topic.
- Packaging Configuration: This section enables hierarchical dependencies between the products. The checkbox 'Enable packaging hierarchy' must be selected in to use the packaging hierarchy objects. For more information on using the packaging hierarchy, go to the Showing packaging hierarchies topic.
- Delete Channel: The Delete link in this canvas will delete the channel by removing all the products, attributes, categories, and mappings linked to this channel. A deleted channel cannot be retrieved.
- Publish button: Changes on the Categories tab page will be executed to the channel only when the user clicks the Publish button.
