Product Data Exchange (PDX) overview

Welcome to the PDX Platform. These pages provide documentation for Product Data Exchange (PDX) by Stibo Systems.

What is PDX and what can it do for me?

PDX is a data solution enabling manufacturers, brand owners and suppliers to share product data efficiently with data pools, retailers, distributors, and other content receivers. PDX enables efficient collaboration with trading partners, including retailers, distributors, and data pools, ensuring accurate data flow across ecosystems.

By streamlining data exchanges, PDX reduces errors, accelerates time-to-market, and ensures adherence to data standards, be it industry standards like GDSN or standards imposed by individual retailers or other receivers. It enhances trust, improves operational efficiency, and enables organizations to scale their digital commerce operations effectively.

Business scenarios supported by PDX

  1. Product data onboarding: Supplier onboarding of product data to retailers, and data has to be in compliance with the retailers' requirements.

  2. Product data syndication: Global synchronization of produt data for accurate, retailer-ready data to data-pools, directly to retailers or other receiver platform

The scenarios differ when it comes to the level of import / export integration with external systems, the volume of data that is transferred, and complexity of the data that is exchanged.

While the set of mechanisms that PDX provides to support a flawless data flow are predominately the same across its various uses, specialized instruments are also available in the PDX toolbox.

PDX concepts

Although the external systems involved will differ, the fundamental data flow and concepts that are in use are the same:

  • Product Data Import

    • PDX covers excel / file-based upload options to advanced automated API suggestions

  • Master Data enhancements

    • PDX offer the option to categorize and enhance the raw product data before it is send on to recipients

  • Channels

    • PDX makes it possible to target product data to a range of preconfigured data recipients (retailers and data pools) and to an unlimited set of custom recipients that can be configured by PDX users themselves.

  • Mappings and transformations

    • PDX comes with a rich toolbox that can be used to transform data to fit recipients’ requirements

  • Submission and statuses

    • Finally, product data can be pushed to data recipients, and their statuses can be followed
